News and Notes…
HAPPY SPRING! As of Wednesday March 20th, Spring was officially here! The students have had several celebrations over the last month! Dr. Suess’s birthday, St. Patrick’s Day, and our trip to Safety Town were awesome opportunities for our kindergartners to learn! We had a ball celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday with green eggs and ham, played green eggs and ham tic-tac-toe, read Dr. Seuss many books, and Mrs. Raju even came to our class to read her favorite Dr. Seuss book, The Cat in the Hat. That was an extra special treat! St. Patrick’s Day was a great opportunity to show the students where Ireland was and the Irish people’s traditions and what their land looks like. And I’m sure your child told you about that terrible visit from Lenny the Leprechaun…what a mess he made!! Backpacks and jackets hanging from the ceiling, chairs everywhere, green toilet water, and more! The kids had so much fun at Safety Town. They learned driving rules and pedestrian rules, as well as more about our city of Roswell and how our Roswell police department and Fire Department can help us. Thanks again to our volunteers for making our trip possible! Our last celebration was our Sight Word Egg Hunt. The students’ had a blast celebrating new beginnings in spring and finding their sight word eggs!
This month, we only have 3 weeks here at school, due to our much needed rest on Spring Break (Apr. 1-5)! I hope you and your family had a blast!! Now, it is full speed ahead to the end of the school year! We will have a live butterfly garden in our classroom…We will watch the butterflies grow from larvae, to caterpillars, to chrysalis, and then hatch into beautiful painted lady butterflies!! We will also begin Unit 6 in math, celebrate Earth Day, learn about seeds to plants, parents and offspring, and more! We also have field day at the end of the month to look forward to. It’s going to be another busy one!
:) Ms. Hicks
